FUELED BY ENERVIT

In 1984 Francesco Moser performed one of the greatest and most memorable feats backed by Enervit. “The Sherriff” beat the hour record, that was held for 12 years by “Cannibal” Eddy Merckx. In fact, it was a double hour record, only 4 days later in the Mexico City Velodrome, Moser stopped the clock at 51.1 km/hour and became the first man to break the 50 km/hour mark.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Francesco Moser’s record was a great technological achievement.  For the first time in the history of cycling, the utilization of a special bicycle equipped with lenticular-shaped wheels (disc wheels) and a bullhorn-bar was used.  The wheels were invented following wind tunnel tests carried out by Enervit founder, Paolo Sorbini. This would become the standard time-trial equipment in the next years.
